I originally posted this on my old WordPress blog on 20th May 2013.
I want to be the very best man that I can be and I’m certainly not happy with what I’ve done so far. I have crazy ambitions; I’ve got ideas I dare not tell anyone about, I dream about doing outlandish things I can’t do yet and this is why Proverbs 4:7-8 is my headline scripture for 2013:
“Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom!
Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding!
Throw your arms around her—believe me, you won’t regret it;
never let her go—she’ll make your life glorious.”
You’ve heard that leaders are readers and this is because as soon as you stop learning you stop growing, and if you stop growing you stagnate. As soon as you think you know it all, you know nothing.

YouVersion.com is great for good Bible reading plans. Find yourself a good one and make the decision to follow it through – you’ll be amazed at what God will do in you! Also, find someone who can follow the plan through with you – accountability is key and really helps to keep you on track. I’m currently following the Life Journal Reading Plan.
OK I’m making myself accountable, here are my devotions.
It’s in the secret (not public) place that our character is constructed. Focus on your hidden, internal life and make yourself a work in progress. Decide, commit and then you will achieve.
Come on guys: “Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives.” Colossians 3:16
“In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.” James 1:21
